~~ ants in pants; cold feet; cold sweat; nervousness; shakes; uneasiness; edginess; apprehension;twitchiness; jitters; willies; collywobbles(由緊張或輕微恐懼所引起的胃部不適感); heebie-jeebies(緊張或恐懼的感覺)
!! In about 1900, this metaphor likened a nervous or jittery feeling resulting from swallowing live butterflies that their millions of wings were flapping inside a person's stomach. Instances such as a big competition (singing or speech contest, or one's turn to go on stage to perform) is about to start would cause one to be tense or scared. That is when one would feel a fluttery sensation in one's stomach, as if there were butterflies flying around in it.
>> When I met my boss this morning, I was having butterflies in my stomach.
>> An hour before my turn to perform, I was always having butterflies in my stomach.
