Push the Envelope——
** go to the extent or extremes; go beyond accepted limits; expand possibilities; innovate boldly; take risks; advance and pioneer
~~ push/expand the boundaries; overcome/extend the limits; go beyond the bounds; break new ground; think outside the box; break from the norm; sky’s the limit
!! In airplane design, the ‘envelope’ is the outer boundary of all the curves that show the safe performance of the aircraft under various conditions. These curves appear as rising slopes to show limits of engine thrust and stress, speed, altitude, atmospheric conditions, etc.
Flight testing pilots have to test these limits (or push the envelopes) by flying an airplane faster and higher, and diving more steeply than had been tried in order to see what the plane is capable of doing, and where failure is likely to occur.
>> To succeed in a competitive business, one must push the envelope.
>> When you are young and have little to lose, go out there, push the envelope, and do something that has never been done before.
